General Information for Reunion Planning

When: Monday, March 30th until Friday, April 3rd, 2009. Come early or stay later if you wish.

Where: Ramada Inn Charleston Airport, 7401 Northwoods Blvd., North Charleston, SC 29406. You must make your own hotel reservations by calling (843) 572-2200 and tell them you are with USN/USCG Burton Island Association. Our special room rate is $79.00 per night. A limited number of rooms inside the atrium are also available at our special room rate of $89.00 per night, if you prefer. A daily complimentary hot breakfast buffet is included. Make your reservations early, all rooms must be reserved by the March 1, 2009 cut-off date to get these special reduced rates.

Airplane: There are seven airlines that serve Charleston International Airport: AirTran, Delta, American, United, Continental, Northwest and US Airways. Call the Ramada for free shuttle service to/from the airport. Start monitoring the airlines for SALE FARES to Charleston!

Train: Charleston is also served by Amtrak trains. Call the Ramada for free shuttle service to/from the Amtrak Station.

Planned Activities:

Monday: Registration and Hospitality in the Beauregard Room all day. Free time all day.

Tuesday: 9:30 AM bus guided tour to Patriot's Point Museum. Noon Lunch is included in the USS Yorktown CPO Mess! 1:30 PM 30-minute boat guided tour from Patriot's Point across Charleston Harbor to Fort Sumter National Monument. Return to the hotel at 4:30 PM. Cost is $90.00 each. Evening Hospitality in the Beauregard Room. Evening free time.

Wednesday: 9:00 AM bus guided tour to CSS H.L. Hunley Museum, followed by a fully narrated bus tour of historic Charleston. Afterward, you will be dropped off near Market Street downtown for lunch on your own with time to also visit the Old City Market. Return to the hotel at 4:00 PM. Cost is $75.00 each. Evening Hospitality in the Beauregard Room. Evening free time.

Thursday: 9:00 AM Business Meeting for all members in the Armand Room. 8:00 AM bus guided tour for nonmembers to the world famous Magnolia Plantation House and Gardens and three-mile Tram Tour of the Audubon Swamp. Return to the hotel at 1:00 PM. Cost is $70.00 each. Afternoon Hospitality in the Beauregard Room. Afternoon free time. 5:00 PM individual and group photos taken in the atrium. 6:45 PM unveiling of our Burton Island photo in the atrium for the Ramada Hall of Honor. 7:00 PM our Banquet Dinner and Activities in the Armand Room. Cost is $40.00 each.

Friday: Morning complimentary Farewell Breakfast Buffet in the atrium ....'til we meet again!
