The Burton Island Association

Officers' / Historians' Corner

A Message From The President

Reading through the GUEST BOOK messages, I have noticed that several former B.I. crewmembers have signed in, but are not members of the association. Please consider joining. When you become a member you will receive our newsletter "THE SCUTTLEBUTT" which will keep you updated on happenings within the association, including the latest reunion information. If you come to one reunion, you will find everyone has a great time, meeting old shipmates and making new friends. WE ALL LEFT OUR BOOTPRINTS ON THE ICE.
Our research historian, Leonard Lambert, has compiled a photo history of the Burton Island from 1946-1978 thanks to material provided by shipmates. This history is being continually updated as more material comes in. Any cruise books, photos, newspaper articles etc, that you have concerning the Burton Island, please contact Leonard. Would like information from all years, especially the years (1966-1972) when the B.I. was first commissioned in the COAST GUARD He has the capability to copy and to safely return the originals to you. By doing this you will help keep the memory alive.
If you have any Burton Island experiences, stories etc that you would like to share, please send them to our editor, Gary Conrad, to be put in the Scuttlebutt.
